T70 ReadyDLNA enhancement request - Auto rescans needed.

Postby Firefox » Tue Mar 24, 2009 7:55 am

I have just tested the beta firmware together with a Samsung DLNA TV and it is working very good.

The only thing that I would like to comment is that every time you drag new media files into the ReadyNAS you have to go to the frontview and do an update by pushing “rescan media files” couldn’t this be done automatically?

The "Automatically update database." option is not working?

Doesn't appear to update.
Or if it does, not quickly enough!

Yo Yoh-Dah, Any idea how often and regularly or quickly it's supposed to update with the box ticked?

It only takes a few seconds, unless the NAS CPU is being heavily used by another process. Some DLNA media renderers don't pay very close attention to the flag that tells it when a container has changed, so you may have to restart the renderer (or in your case power-cycle the TV).

When I enabled the readydlna, it keeps unchecking the 'update media files daily @ 3am'.

I check it, hit apply, it comes back unchecked and @ 0000 again.

That option shouldn't even be there at all any more. It's probably stuck in your browser cache. Have you tried clearing the browser cache? Or doing a shift-reload in Frontview?

Yeah, that's just a stub for now. That URL will get some actual content before this firmware release is tagged as final.

Just to add my 2p.

I use my ReadyNAS to stream to my PS3 and have recently installed this firmware to resolve the problem.

However I have to say that I am also having trouble with file updates.

On some occassions when I run a rescan media files it will only find roughly half of the stuff that I have on there.
Doing another Scan seems to resolve this.

However it is definitely not automatically updating properly. I have tried another DLNA compatible media client and the same problem is occuring.

Any Suggestions?

I am getting the same problem. Using the beta T74

Auto update does not seem to be working. Was fine before I upgraded to the beta. But now when ever I add new files I have rebuild the whole database to actually see the files on my ps3.

I restart my ps3 to make sure its a current view but still the new files do not appear

top tip: get the 0.3 update package for readydnla, it works wonders. i had the same problems with auto-update. since 0.3 it works.

still doesn't make the ps3 rescan a folder, but better than nothing ;-)

Look at the top thread in this forum. There's a sticky which contains links for ReadyDLNA update packages.
