NAS tries to access a share that does not exist

Postby henkan2001 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:17 am

Hi,

I have problem. When the NAS (ReadyNASPro Pioneer Edition) starts up it tries to access two shares that I used to have. But after som disk problem that volume that contained these shares was removed. After reformatting and creating a new volume the NAS tries to access these old share names at startup. See the error message below.

If I try to create a share with the same name again it says that the share already exists. So how can I solve this?

Error messages 1 (at startup):
The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically, this occurs when the ReadyNAS is unable to access the data volume. Test1 Test2

Error messages 2 (when trying to create a share called Test1):
Share already exists. [Test1]

Best regards,

I am getting exactly this error message for the 2 default shares ("media" and "backup") that I commonly delete when I first start using a ReadyNAS.

Weirdly, though the shares no longer exist under "share listing" they do still appear as a possible backup job source (even after 3 reboots)...it appears that somehow these shares are not being properly deleted under firmware 4.1.5?

I've solved my problem. Use the RAIDar->Browse to browse the NAS
From the explorer I was able to create the missing shares. The folder
I created (same name as the share) was owned by the aministrator.

I was how ever able to change the ownership using Frontview.
Share Listing->CIFS->Advanced Options
