iSCSI support in ReadyNas Pro Business Edition

Postby klherisson » Thu Aug 20, 2009 12:14 pm

I am looking into purchasing a ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition to utilize the iSCSI functionality. Now is it possible to have different volumes on the ReadyNas set up as a different iSCSI targets? Specifically I am looking to run a Microsoft Exchange server, an EMC Networker Backup server and an instance of Oracle in a Linux environment and I want to make sure that I can have multiple iSCSI targets defined on the ReadyNAS for each of those environments. If so are there any limitations that I should be aware of?

You can certainly create multiple iSCSI targets, however, I do not think that you can choose which volume they reside on (on the assumption that you've configured the NAS for Flex-RAID and have multiple volumes and desire to have each iSCSI target on a volume other than C). I think iSCSI targets get defined/created on the C volume (although you may wish to wait for official comment from a Jedi).
