It happens regardless of connection type (wired, wireless) when I'm copying a folder structure (e.g., Artist\Album\ tree with FLAC files). It's around the 5th file or so that I get this error message. Interestingly enough, everything works just fine when I'm copying only files. Further, it works when copying stuff over from my Mac via AFP.

I've found the solution in a related Linn DS forum: the problem is caused by TwonkyMedia automatically rescanning the contents of the media share (rescan setting = -1). I've reset this to "0" (= rescan disabled) and now the problem is gone!

I can confirm what Barni has written, if you are having problems copying / moving files onto a ReadyNAS device AND you have TwonkyMedia activated then the first thing to check is the 'Rescan in minutes' setting on the sharing tab.

Having this set to -1 does interfere with file transfers because TwonkyMedia starts to catalogue the data being copied before the transfer is completed.

Many thanks Barni!

I found the same to be true with the ReadyDLNA service. By disabling the Automatic database update feature within this service, the aforementioned error message was never to be seen again!!!

Thanks! I had the same error message while copying files to my Duo and disabling the Automatic database update feature within ReadyDLNA. Sounds like the firmware needs a bug fix :) I am running RAIDiator 4.1.6 [1.00a043]

By the way, the TiVo streaming and ReadyDLNA works pretty well even with my ancient D-Link DI-624  Every time I read somewhere that I need a new router, it turns out it's not the router's problem after all 8)

Thanks a lot! I was just about to return my ReadyNAS DUO due to the "Network path not found" error when I found this thread. Now everything is working as a charm :D

I just noticed this issue with a ReadyNAS Duo (RAIDiator 4.1.6 [1.00a043]) also.
The "The specified network name is no longer available" problem occurs for me when copying a DVD folder structure from a WinXP SP3 computer to the ReadyNAS.
Disabling the ReadyDLNA "Automatically update database" setting also resolved the issue.

Couple things to note about my environment...
I have 2 ReadyNAS Duo units on my network.
Both ReadyNAS Duo units are running RAIDiator 4.1.6 [1.00a043].
I have tried copying the same folder to both Duo units (the ReadyDLNA settings are the same).
Only one Duo is exhibiting the problem.

The one with the problem and is connected to the WinXP computer via a new Netgear GS608 v3 Gigabit switch and then through a older Netgear GS605 v2 switch.
WinXP -> GS608v3 -> GS605v2 -> ReadyNAS Duo (#1)

The second (not exhibiting the problem) is connected just through the 8 port Netgear GS608v3 Gigabit switch.
WinXP -> GS608v3 -> ReadyNas Duo (#2)

So I would venture to say there could be network topology component to all this.
In any case, disabling the ReadyDLNA "Automatically update database" setting resolved the issue.

i agree with this above point. Although the readyDLNA auto update is obviously contributing to the problem, i have also noticed the error message occurring when attempting to open more than one copy box with windows (7 and xp). it seems there is a bandwidth networking issue when trying to copy large quantities of data at the same time (ie. more than one copy box active)

I am currently still only using 100mb ethernet, so this is obviously creating a bandwidth bottleneck to my DUO. but this problem obviously shouldnt be occuring. very irritating...

i also very much like the 'auto update readyDLNA' feature.

Directed to Admin: Has this Problem already been documented by ReadyNAS NETGEAR?? can we assume a firmware fix is not far away?
THanks very much

ok thanks chirpa.
To solve the issue, which ReadyDLNA update should i install??? (i have a duo)
-Latest ReadyDLNA Standard Update Addon Package (0.16)
or
-Latest ReadyDLNA Debug Update Addon Package (0.16)
??

Also, considering 4.2.7 has been released, im guessing 4.1.7 is not far away? Will it have this 'ReadyDLNA update' built in??
thanks

Use the Standard release. The Debug release gives more details for the developers in the system logs.

4.1.7 will eventually come out, and will have this version or a more current one embedded. But 4.1.7 is awhile off, don't expect it any time soon.

Hi,

this version of ReadyDLNA isn't compatible with the duo as you need 4.25 or higher of radiator, of which the highest for Duo is 4.1.6...I've just tried installing both anyway but it doesn't work :(

Any ideas how to get round the itunes/import problem OTHER THAN to import to a different directory first and then upload afterwards? Ive got my itunes library file on the readynas so that its backed up all the time so dont want to move it off...

Try disabling "Jumbo Frames" in your NIC, the NAS or both. My error went away when I did this probably because my router doesn't support jumbo frames.
