iSCSI / VMware Question on ReadyNAS PRO

iSCSI / VMware Question on ReadyNAS PRO

Postby daddygrant » Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:43 am

Hello,

We are considering using the PRO's for a DR site as VMWare Storage Servers. We are backing up our machines with Acronis True Image to an off-site location. In our plan we would like to be able to restore the images to the PRO's but we can't find information on the iSCSI capability or implementation.

Does anyone have any real experience with the iSCSI or NFS implantation with VMWare and the Pro?

When will documentation be available for download?

the pro is not officially on the hcl for esx / vmware but it will work as a iscsi target.

if you reference the esx docs, adding the pro as a iscsi target is the same as any other iscsi LUN

Whoa meob that's not correct. The Pro is indeed on the HCL and carries the VMware Ready logo for NFS, with iSCSI coming very shortly.

We have a how-to on using ReadyNAS with NFS, and as meob pointed out an iSCSI LUN can be used by an host as a backup target.
