NTI Shadow and Vista/W7

Simplifying backup strategy with ReadyNAS

NTI Shadow and Vista/W7

Postby captainiom » Fri Mar 19, 2010 9:00 am

I am using the bundled Shadow for Readynas duo and it works fine with my XP computers but fails regularly with both Vista and W7 even when run as administrator - although less frequently. The Win message is simply Shadow has stopped working with an appcrash and win wants to shut program down which it then does.
I cannot download an update from the NTI shadow page because the server gives a 500 not available error and I may have the latest version anyway as the Readynas is only a couple of months old.

Ideas please? (I could put a debugger onto the W7 run if this would help as I have Visbasic installed there with full debugging facilities).

The bundled version is not compatible with Windows 7. You would need to purchase an upgrade from NTI directly.

I was going to recommend the NTIus.com forums, but it appears they are down right now: http://forums.ntius.com/

Maybe an NTI rep that views this forum can assist.

I am having the same issue, where NTI Shadow is failing on both my PC and Laptop running Vista. This happens regurlarly and usually with in minutes of restartig the software. Obviouslly this means none of my backup jpbs are running or completing. Any help from and NTI rep woudl be appreciated.
