I have now a good connection to my NVX from a remote network. Actually in my office I have two PCs next to each other, each one on different networks. The wired network (Office desktop PC) has some port restrictions (e.g. I can not use POP mail because port 25 and 110 are blocked). The other PC (laptop) has connection wireless to a more open network with less restrictions. On both PCs I have installed RR 1.6.2.0 and can connect to my home NVX.
I log in using the same username from both PCs (one at a time, obviously). From the "open" laptop PC I can copy files to and from the NVX. From the restricted desktop PC I can copy files from the NVX, but when I try to upload files back to the NVX, there is a long time lag, after which the connection is lost. I can reconnect immediately and see the files on the NVX which were there before the disconnection. ALSO, a new file has been created for the first file I tried to copy to the NVX, but it is defective (although apparantly having the correct size) and is locked so it can't be deleted. An error message is displayed: 'Cannot copy "filename": The specified network name is no loger available.'
I am wondering what can be wrong, since everything works as expected on the laptop PC which is connected thorugh an open network.
As a bonus info, I can add that I can hook up the wireless laptop PC via the wired (restricted) network (disabling the wlan) and then that PC also can not copy files, but lose connection trying. So, it seems to have something to do with the network connection.
From what I have read, no open ports are required for connection via RR. But is that entirely true? If so, what could then be the reason why I can not copy files to the shares from the PC that are connected via the port restricted network?
I hope some wise persons can help me sorting this out...
Thanks in advance,
Claus
