ReadyNAS remote install problems

Postby jwr » Fri Jun 11, 2010 9:23 pm

Hello,

I am unable to install the ReadyNAS remote software on a PC running Windows 7.

I am guessing the problem is the leafnetworks adapter. I also tried doing a manual install of the adapter with no luck as well. I tried with the AV turned off and in SAFE mode.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I tried the advice from that thread without any luck. I verified the Leaf Networks Adapter was not installed and then tried a manual install. Recieved an error message saying the manual hardware addition failed.

This is not the source of the issue, but there is a data center move this weekend and the service is down. Please PM me on Monday and we will set up a support session to have a look at your issue.

Did you ever resovle this as I have the same issue on Windows 7 Ultimate and I have tried installing/uninstalling about 10 times with no success? The installer just kills my current network connection and hangs.

TIA, Simon

I also have problems installing the ReadyNAS Remote client on Windows 7 x64. During the install it created copies of all my Network Adapters with a Netgear ending. These extra NICs could be Disabled but not Uninstalled.

Luckily the "Last Known Good" worked for me since I also got all my NICS hung by the install.

Anywho, I just installed and configured the Leaf Adapter manually and will do a Reboot to make sure it doesn't screw things up before I try the Install again.

I got a ReadyNAS Duo for Christmas with which I am gettingI am getting exactly the same issue (win 7 64). The installer causes a windows dialog to popup saying the the installer has stopped working. Clicking ok on the dialog appears to allow the installer to finish however the initialisation failed error code -3 comes up when I try to start ready nas remote. I also tried to install the leaf networks client but the same thing happens. I get an error code -3. I was able to install on my work PC which is also win 7 64. the only major difference I can think of is that this laptop has VMWare workstation installed which means there are already some virtual network interfaces created for it (no idea why that would be a problem though).

steviep: I also have VMware Workstation installed. Since below I've also noticed that sometimes but not always I can not Hibernate or Sleep the Laptop. I've tried to eliminate driver after driver and is now beginning to blame all of this on the fwleaf driver. I sure hope Netgear have started to work on a solution.

When I get this fixed I will NEVER try to install Netgear Remote Client on Win 7. Not when FTP and SSH/SCP is working like a charm.

Hi all,

I stumbled across this post when I was having this problem also. I also had VMWare and Virtual Box installed. Since I don't need them, I have removed them, and the install completed successfully (even without a reboot).

Just thought I'd post in case this helps someone else.

I have the same problem on my Sony Vaio laptop.

I am -not- running VMWare or any other virtual machine, and I am using the latest version of ReadyNas Remote.
If fails during the install process at "Adjusting network adapter (amd64)..." (hangs).

Does anyone know of any fix for this problem?

Also hoping Netgear will rectify this problem in the next version of this software...
