Notice these newer NVX units illuminate the disk numbers better than older production.

Is the display still backlit LCD (difficult to read at an angle)?

Yes, still LCD. I suspect they made a minor change to get the LEDs closer to the front faceplate, or something like that. Jedi care to unveil the secret?

Another new change is that both new units (DOA and good one) the front door creaks like a haunted house door. Old units are silent. I guess its give and take!

fancy starting a new thread, so those with decibel meters can start comparing door noises. As I'm wondering if the Ultra's will have the same squeaky feature or not

You obviously received a defective unit. Let me PM the address to send it in for repair. :D

The blue light on my Ultraman is too bright and I can't find anywhere to put the drives:

Seriously, I don't see the door squeaking/not as a big issue. How often do you open the door anyway?

My Ultra 6 door squeaks, but I suspect that's probably just one of the priceless unique joys of a beta unit that could well be now fixed.

Nah, why fix it? If it didn't squeak we wouldn't have anything to talk about here. Image
