Updating directory listing / 'Automatically update database'

Postby cr7 » Sun Mar 13, 2011 7:08 am

Hi all

I'm connecting to my Duo (radiator 4.1.7) using a PS3 and XBMC (on a mac and apple TV) and am having issues with browsing media that's been recently added.

Under frontview streaming services I have ReadyDLNA ticked and also 'Automatically update database.'

Presumably new files won't be refreshed until the 'Automatically update database' task runs. If so how often does it run, can I change the frequency (I've enabled SSH and am happy to edit or manually add a cron job etc)

From what I can see the clients connecting aren't caching the directory /file listings as on brand new installs they aren't seeing new / deleted / renamed files etc.

Just wondering what the best way of doing this is moving forward, I understand the rescan might take a while once you've got a few TB but it doesn't seem to be running even once a day currently?

Bump

I am still having to login to firefly and manually kick off a scan, which is a royal pita

Your first post refers to ReadyDLNA, your second complains about Firefly - so what exactly is the problem as the 2 appear to be completely unrelated.

When 'Automatically Update database' is checked, ReadyDLNA rescans whenever a media file in the monitored directories changes.

Firefly has an option in its setup to specify the amount of time between automatic rescans
