Very interesting.

Just to get the order of installation down.

I downloaded the file and unzipped it. Where do I copy the directory to? the root

do I need to ssh in to the box I assume I do since I have to run the start.sh script.

Run the start.sh scrip

Fire up a web browser and point it to http://localhost:32400/manage

Need some help installing this.

My understanding is this will transcode as well if this works bye bye dlna :)

It is a self contained app - so install to a dedicated directory, perhaps a new share

do I need to ssh in to the box I assume I do since I have to run the start.sh script.

yes

My understanding is this will transcode as well if this works bye bye dlna :)

Most definitely
