Sounds great! So be sure to let yoh-dah know if you're interested as if not enough people are the Group Buy won't happen.

Sorry, I didn't get it. What is meant with a group buy? A special prize for the ReadNas Pro 6?

I am very interested in buying the new ReadyNas Pro 6.
Because I need to replace my old NV+ System. Will there be a Diskless-Version?
Because I have to buy the RNDP6310-200 (3x1TB) and then I need to replace the preinstalled disks with 3x3TB disks.
And then I have 3x1TB left over... With a diskless version I could buy 3x3TB disks directly without any left over disks.

Potential Pro 6 Group Buy

Postby fbmachines » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:05 pm

I don't think they have done a group buy in awhile but it means a group of buyers purchase a large quantity, negotiating a better price. The more units to be purchased the better the price.

I might be interested depending on the price and if it's a diskless model.

Posting here in this thread should be fine. There's also the option of sending yoh-dah a Private Message (http://www.readynas.com/forum/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=3) if you prefer.

Here is a better explanation of group buy from dbott67...

dbott67 wrote:It would essentially involve a group of people who are committed to buying X number of units from a re-seller. The reseller could then make a bulk purchase from the distributor and negotiate for a lower price.

For example, if the group of interested parties were to commit to buying 100 units, then the reseller might be able to negotiate a lower cost on the units and pass it on to the group and at the same time, lower their profit margin to make the savings even better.

It becomes a win-win situation for the reseller and the buyers. The reseller may not make as much per unit, but gets to sell a ton of units without doing a lot of actual "selling".

Looks like if the group buy were to go through, it would be good only in the U.S. and Canada. Apologies to our friends outside these countries.

And people wonder about the longevity of the Infrant/Netgear ReadyNAS devices.
Remember - the NAS is not a backup plan.

Backup = Good, No Backup = Bad

Yeah my x6 is still going strong. Must be a good 7ish years old now. Pretty impressed that the OS still gets updated though after all these years.
Netgear will no doubt be beating my door down soon to get me to endorse the product just like jeep do with the 70 anniversary TV adds!!!
