This sucks big time. Nothing works. I'm clearing the library now and then I'll scan everything again. It also seems as if its hanging always at the same point: pre-caching artwork at number 423 of 454. I'll see if that happens this time again.

Pre caching art work for over 26 hours?

Can't comment on that - though due to the low duo processing power i would not be surprised at that. Check all your logs to see if one particular album is causing the issue

But the fact remains that you will see no update until the index scan is complete. This is an intentional in 7.6 with to the move to sqlite for the database. Search the logitech forum for more info

Maybe you missed the fact that 7.6.1 has been released?

Yeah I missed that ;)
But today I downloaded this update from the logitech site??

Anyway, I'll check how this one works, if it doesn't, I'll install 7.6.1.

we'll see if it works, i have squeezebox server running on a readynas duo, i have already tried using 7.6.0 a bunch of times, i removed/reinstalled a dozen times as well as ran the clean squeezebox database thingy. it's so annoying, it only showed one artist everytime... I really don't want to have to downgrade..

i have 7.6.1 installed now, the database is scanning through everything, so far no artists have populated and it's been an hour... i hope it will populate by the end otherwise ill have to downgrade, logitech will hopefully have a fix out soon...

I recommend all of you who are having issues with the latest releases of the SqueezeBox Server to do your experiments on a directory that contains only low number of music albmus.
I think it would make your life easier, because you will see in 1-2 minutes if the setup is working instead of 8-10-20 hours. Just create a subfolder in your Music share, drop some albums and set your SBS to that folder instead of your huge collection.

kllngtme: As I mentioned earlier, 7.6.0 is having a known issue of the scan so there is no point repeating the installation of 7.6.0 several times. 7.6.1 should be okay (at least for me it is fine)

Thanks for the tip! This works for me. Now I have 88 tracks in my library, and squeezebox server 7.6.0 has scanned 'all of them' in 5 secondes, according to the log. How do you think I can add the rest of my music to my library? Apparently it has problems with large numbers of music.

By the way, thanks all you guys for the help :)

I still strongly recommend to switch to 7.6.1. (and do the upgrade according to the standard squeezebox installation procedure)
Do a re-scan with the new version on your smaller music folder just to see if everything is ok (which I suppose will happen), then re-configure your SBS by setting your music folder location into your real collection folder. And then do a full re-scan.

So far so good.

And then do a full re-scan.

I'll start scanning now.

This worked for me! Finally the scan completed and it's all working properly now.
Everyone who contributed; thanks a lot :)

My next challenge is setting up my popcorn hour a210... it gives me headache already ;-)

What's horrible I feel about this whole thing is the wiki for troubleshooting 7.6.0 says the following: "Some people with problem with 7.6 decides to downgrade back to 7.5.x. This is certainly a good alternative for anyone that don't want to be a beta tester of 7.6.0 or 7.6.1. "

Why are beta firmwares being released to the public as stable firmwares in the first place?! I hope Logitech will do a better job next time, I'm really sick of troubleshooting this. The version of 7.6.1 I am trying currently is: Version: 7.6.1 - r32935, it seems to have the same issue.

I will be reverting back to the old firmware soon if this doesn't seem to do the trick, I removed the playlist folder off the scan completely, I only have the music directory listed. I'm hoping for the best so I can listen to music again.

As the wiki also states - complain to Logitech. The problems with 7.6 are not exclusive to the ReadyNAS release
