HP990CSE USB Printer compatible?

Postby damien » Tue Jun 14, 2005 2:49 pm

I'm looking at getting a ReadyNAS600 to replace my large ThermalTake file server system and just need to know if my HP 990 CSE printer will work fine w/ the ReadyNAS.

If so, then I'm definitely on board for getting it and getting rid of my old tower system.

Anyone have any experiences w/ the unit and HP USB printers?

I have a HP Photosmart 8750 hooked to mine and don't have any issues...bar the extremely slow printing from the NAS. You can improve the delay with the printing if you read up on the below topic linked by Yoh-Dah:

basically, you just need to clear 2 registry entries...and it does a lot to improve the print preformance as far as speed. GL

I have the same problem with my ReadyNAS NV, Windows XP SP2 machines, and a Samsung ML1740 printer. My solution was to delete a few instances of the printer from the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections\

Look in the subkeys, "DevModePerUser", "DevModes2", and "Settings" and delete any reference to the printer.

Now the print dialogue's should be much faster.
