Add more volume than four on raid 5 (rdnp pioner edition)

Postby infrantowner » Mon Oct 24, 2011 12:50 am

Hi,
sorry for my english.
I need to add more than four volume on raid 5 on a readynas pro pioneer edition. I don't know if it's a limitation on the pioner edition.
I have a pro with 6 terra hdd on it. I have create a raid 5, and 4 volume of 219 giga. I need to add 17 another volumes (219 giga each of them).
After the add of the last 4 volume, after the resync and the reboot of the nas, no more add buton...
thank's for the help.

Why do you want so many volumes?

hi mdgm,
It's for video camera.
Twenty site with cam, backup is needed for each site. When we use user limitation, system cam don't see user limitation but the full volume size (4,6 terra).
So When we reach user limitation there's an error and the direct backup stop... If we use volume of 219 giga, when it reach , oldest files are deleted by the direct backup and all goes well.

I know, it's a silly way but... I think it's the only way :?

One option you have would be to use iSCSI (http://www.readynas.com/iSCSI) though it would mean you'd need to mount the targets on a computer (e.g. server) and share the data from there.
