Invalid Image - Python addon

Postby kluts4 » Fri Nov 11, 2011 1:26 pm

Hello, Since 4 weeks I am the new owner of a Readynas Duo. I don't know much about NAS devices, so I need some help. I want to install SABnzbd so I can download movies direct to my Readynas. If I understand correctly I must first install Python? I have download the following files:

- Python-2.5.2.tgz
- Python-2.6.7.tgz
- Python-2.7.2.tgz

And tried to install it, but none of them works.. each time I get the following message: Invalid image

What I am doing wrong? What is the good extension for the correct file, tgz? And where can I download the file for FREE? Because I don't have paypal! Can somebody give me a PRECISE link so I can download the good file. Or is there something else wrong? As you can see I really need help!

I hope for a fast response! Thanks!
(and sorry for my bad english)

Not knowing where you downloaded the files you mentioned in your first post I assume you got them from the official Python web site. This means that the files most likely contain the source code for the Python interpreter. So you would need to unpack them and compile the contents to make use of it. There should be guides here on the forum how to do that and even about how to install SABnzbd once you are finished compiling the base Python stuff.

Frontview allows you to install images, a packages that have been created by Netgear or our community. Those addons are bin files.
You can install everything from sources (you will need SSH addon and some Linux knowledge) or you can get an addon(s) from WhoCares:

Depends what you need you might wanna grab bundle or separate addons.

Paypal accounts are free and secure. It's easy to set one up. I would say the small fee for getting one of his add-ons is much better than trying to develop something yourself

pertoft it is Python not Puthon. Secondly have you tested your add-on to see if it works with add-ons that depend on Python? Thirdly don't revive dead threads.
