readyNas Remote won't start automatically

Postby ablevy » Tue Jul 21, 2009 6:05 pm

I am running Windows XP, and the latest version of ReadyNAS Remote. It works well except that it won't start automatically even though I have it set to start automatically when I start Windows. Is this a known bug?

I have not seen the before...is it possible that something could be blocking it from starting on windows login?

If I look in MSconfig, it shows under startup. I don't get any error messages, so I can't figure out what might be blocking it. I use Norton Internet security, but it shouldn't interfere, because it runs without a problem when I start it manually. I

Did anyone work out the answer to this? I have the same problem.

Thanks

I am having the same issue. Very frustrating as I have several programs I access remotely and this is a hindrance not starting correctly. Please fix ASAP!

This is a UAC problem. If you lower the UAC to the minimum level, it will boot automatically during start up.
There is also a way to disable UAC for selected files if you do not want to change the general UAC level, but I do not remember the steps right now.

UAC settings need to be adjusted; a quick test with full notification prevents Remote from running at start-up. Disabling UAC allows Remote to run as normal.

I haven't tested the "inbetween" settings of the UAC, and it's likely that an exception in the Windows Firewall will have the same effect if you want to isolate Remote without turning off the UAC.
