If that still doesn't work then your unit probably needs to be RMA'd if it's still under warranty (if it was purchased brand new on/after August 21, 2007 it would still be under warranty).
I'd suggest you contact NetGear tech support (

What light pattern do you see?:

I was under the impression that TFTP was the same thing as the USB boot recovery process. Since the machine said that it had successfully completed the TFTP process however still did not work, I assumed that the raid system motherboard must be defective or the location of the memory. I was ready to use the unit for target practice but figured I would give it one last shot.
The first attempt said USB error( it was a usb drive adapter for a memory card), then I used a USB MP3 player/thumb drive that I found in a drawer.
I can't believe it actually worked!!!!
The unit is back alive and working great!! All the data from the drives are even still intact, what a wonderful experience to have a readynas come back from the dead like that.
Thank you kind sir for saving me on this one, it is very much appreciated. So apparently the USB recovery method will succeed whereas a successful TFTP write to memory has failed. I don't know how you figured that out but you are 100% correct!
Very Nice!!!!
