PATCH AVAILABLE: PlexMediaServer 0.9.5.3 Stops Responding

Postby btaroli » Thu Mar 08, 2012 2:02 am

I was previously running Plex 0.9.5.2 without any issues. But recently I took the upgrade to Plex 0.9.5.3 and within a few days the service stopped responding. Will see if I can dig around to find a log, but restarting the add-on resolved the immediate behavior. Unsure what caused it in the first place though.

From what I can tell, it should be logging into the usual suspects within /var/log. But apart from the installation and start messages I don't see any other complaints from PlexMediaServer there.

Interesting, it looks like you're not the only one with this issue. Check out the thread on the Plex forums.

I am yet to upgrade to 0.9.5.3 and I will wait to see the outcome of this problem before proceeding

Looks like they're still chasing it. Someone sent a beta build my way a bit ago but it eventually hung as well. About to apply 4.2.20 [T42]... wonder if that might change it up at all...? :)

Looks like disabling MyPlex is the fix for now

Ugh. :naskiller:

Finally tried to access the PMS after install. MyPlex web seems to recognize it, but I can't access via player nor can I access the mgmt UI. This is from WAN of course, but it was working fine before. So we'll see if it does any better once I'm on home LAN.

Hmm... had to fight with it a bit to get the myplex cookie re-established, but it does seem happy on my web browser now. iPhone still not happy over WAN.

Have you tried clearing the cache on your iPhone?

Which cache would you be referring to? The Plex Media player has a cache? I suppose I could just reinstall it -- not that their promised 0.9.5.3 version has shown up for iPhone yet. :-/

If you were thinking of the web UI, I was using IE9 and FF11 on Linux. I'll do FF11 with it from Mac when I'm home.

I don't know if it has a cache or not but if you're accessing the web management ui on the iPhone that would be cached I think.

Nope. Accessing mgmt UI only from Linux or Mac. It's the player app I'm using on iPhone.
