So I am new to Transmission and has installed it on my ReadyNAS Duo. Unfortunatley I cannot get it to work properly:
When I add magnet link it starts download and all seem fine for a while. After a random time interval the pop-up "Connection FailedCould not connect to the server. You may need to reload the page to reconnect." displays and Transmission is no longer responding to anything. Only way to get it running again is to disable and re-enable Transmission in ReadyNAS Frontview. Same behaviour on both 2.42 and 2.31.

Any idea on what is wrong and how I can fix it?

This I also would like to know ... :)

My duo dies last week, I'm looking for a replacement hoping the disks are good

sorry for this guy
Seeing as it's been a while... Had any luck? Or should we expect that 2.42 was the last release from you in the long line, for sparc's?
That would suck, hope you get it sorted.

Cheers.

Blocklist exclusion... Is it possible? Seams for one reason or another one of my trackers doesn't respond well to being in the blocklists...And dissabling the blocklist feature from Transmission Remote Dotnet doesn't do jack shi....

If it cant be excluded i'll stick those torrents on the PC instead, but the point of having them on the NAS is to be able to shut down the pc, so it sort of kills the benefits...

Hi All - HELP please!

When i paste a magnet link in and add it to transmission of my readynas duo, it just shows:

(NAME OF FILE)
Downloading from 0 of 0 peers
¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
Magnetized transfer - retrieving metadata (0.00%)

and that's it - it doesn't do anything! it used to work before but for some reason it wont work now.
i have done the port forward but when i check on canyouseeme.org, it shows Connection Refused. I have read tho that this will show closed until the service is actually using the port.
anyway, i have installed utorrent on my pc and that's working fine... so i do not know what is stopping my transmission from working!

please help!

I have 2.42 on my Dou and I have been having a problem were transmission stops reporting to the tracker. It went a week before I realized I wasn't getting any upload credit. I stopped transmission, restarted the NAS and restarted transmission(like it restarts easy...) it is now working again. This is the second time that it stopped reporting upload credit to the tracker. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix? How about an update for the Sparc users...

I have done a search and other people are having problems with this port closed message but no one's actually chimed in to help. even the publisher has ignored it and just kept updating the other versions apart from the sparc version :(

There hasn't been an update for the sparc nasses because the Duo super-poussin used to test them died. I'm afraid you'll have to wait till he has some replacement for it.

About the ports, you should check if your router is forwarding it to the correct IP. If you are using upnp to get the port forwarding, you should check if upnp is turned on on your router and if your nas is supplying it with the right IP to forward to. If you manually set the port forwarding on your router, make sure the IP of your nas does not change.

About the magnet links, I've noticed that sometimes it takes a really long time before it starts downloading, especially if there aren't a lot of seeds. At one case it took several hours before it started.

I experience the same issue. It's always one specific tracker that loses the connection and I couldn't reproduce the issue yet. For a couple of weeks it has been running okay though.

since i updated the os on my duo to 4.1.8 i cannot install transmission anymore.
after a few seconds i got the following message (Bei der Installation des Transmission-Add-Ons ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. - "an error occured during installation of the Transmission Add On" )
the files are there, but i cannot start the client. neither the control function in frontview is working.
all i can do is to run the TRANSMISSION.remove script.

any suggestions?
is there any logfile i can check, why the installation is failing?

thanks in advance,
Ron

Similar issues with the trackers here (on NV+)...

Code: Select all
Tracker returned an error: Connection failed

...went back to 2.34b4, 2.32b02 and now 2.04 - but no fix.

@super-poussin, anything we can do to speed up the process?

I just switched from the native BT client to Transmission and are experiencing some problems.

Here are my steps:
  1. Stopped native BT client
  2. Installed Transmission and updated it from frontview to 2.50.2
  3. Moved old incomplete (/c/.bittorrent/) to new incomplete folder (/media/BitTorrent/Incomplete/)
  4. Added torrent files for those incomplete via Transmission interface, but didnt start them
  5. Verified all torrents by using the right mouse click menu
  6. Started all torrents, and waited. A few were quick to continue where they left off
  7. However, those incomplete torrents that hadnt created a folder yet are giving me an error. "Permission denied (/c/media/BitTorrent/<torrentFolderName>)"
I have seen this should be fixable by changing the entire media share user to "nobody" and group to "nogroup", but I aint gonna do that. This is because Transmission runs using nobody/nogroup. However the newly created folders by the addon, "Incomplete" and "Sources", have root/root rights.
So instead I just changed the "/media/BitTorrent/" folder to nobody/nogroup and now I get a new error.
Note: Removing the torrent and re-adding it doesnt help, so either changing the rights of just the main folder isnt enough or something more needs changing.

This new error is:
No data found! Ensure your drives are connected or use "Set Location". To re-download, remove the torrent and re-add it.

Where is the option to "Set Location" ?
I would like Transmission to run under my current share permissions (media/users), but how do I make that change ?

I have installed Transmission 2.51 on my Readynas Duo v2 with RAIDiator 5.3.5-T19 beta.

The problem is that Transmision is running as admin:admin, and tries to save files with the same permissions. I want it to save the files as nobody:nogroup and have figured out that I need to change my start.sh file to force Trasmission to run as this user:group, but I don't know how.

This is the current content of my start.sh file (located in /etc/frontview/addons/bin/TRANSMISSIONBT):
Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash
#
# This should contain necessary code to start the service

/etc/init.d/transmission-daemon start
