Can't dowload Raidiator! Help!

Postby jjas7 » Mon May 07, 2012 3:22 pm

I have a readynas nv+ and am trying to download RAIDiator-4.1.8. I have tried right clicking etc. and the file won't open.

I am trying to use my readynas with my apple (lion) but I think I need to download this file to make the readynas compatible with lion. If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

It's an encrypted firmware image. You're not supposed to open the file, just right-click on the link to the image and download it.

Installation instructions are in the release notes: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_4_1_8_Notes

If you only need to install it on one machine it would be easier to simply update via System > Update > Remote. That way the NAS itself will download the image off the web.

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I tried updating via System - Update - remote and I got this message:

"Unable to connect to the update server to retrieve update information."

Any idea why?

Thanks

Have you checked that the DNS and Gateway settings under Network in Frontview are correct?

You could download the firmware image and do an update via System > Update > Local.

I tried doing the local update. I selected the file, but the submit button was greyed out.

Can you tell me what are the correct DNS and gateway settings?

Thanks

Can you provide a screenshot (e.g. using forum code from imageshack.us)? What was displayed after you chose the file?

As for the DNS and Gateway this is probably the IP address of your modem/router. It should be automatically set to the correct setting if your NAS is configured to receive an IP address via DHCP.

I was able to use the "local" update on a different computer. It looks like it worked.
The DNS and Gateway settings look correct. I still don't know why I can't update automatically...

Thank you very much for your help!
