Readynas Duo V1 not working with Gigabit switch

Postby daveybenno » Sat May 19, 2012 3:01 pm

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help? I've replaced my old 100Mbps switch with a Gigabit switch and I cannot connect to my Readynas; it does work again if I reconnect the old switch. From everything I've read, the Readynas Duo V1 should support gigabit, so I presume I'm doing something wrong in the setup. Is there anything I need to do so it is recognised?

Thanks for your help,
Dave

What make/model is the switch? Have you tried another cat5 ethernet cable?

Hi,

It's a Netgear Prosafe GS105 and I have tried another cable yes.

Thanks,
Dave

When its working on the 100M switch, open FrontView (RAIDar>Setup) and goto the Network>Interfaces tab. Check that the Speed/Duplex is set to Auto-Negotiate, and not fixed to one of the other settings.

Hi there,

I've just double checked that and I've tried another cable (this time a CAT6) and it now seems to be working. I guess the other cable was CAT5 and not CAT5e or CAT6.....apologies for wasting your time!!!

Best Wishes and thanks for your help,
Dave

Glad to hear you got it going. Not wasted time, good debugging. If you look carefully on the cable, there is usually printed text on what it is (5,5e,6).
