WTB: Drive caddies

Postby kcallis » Mon May 21, 2012 1:55 am

I have become tired of using paper clips to open the latch to remove a drive. Although I did see someone that was selling caddies, that person is under the radar. Looking for purchase 4 drive caddies that work with the nv+.

There are some instructions on the forum on how you can modify the old style drive tray so it no longer gets stuck.

On mine, once I had them open, I worked the release about 20 or 30 time on each tray to wear the parts in. I think it's the mold marks on the release and the fact that the button doesn't have the leverage to overcome the friction when new. While they were still a bit stiff, I never had one stick again. If they were resistant after that, I would put my left hand behind the unit and use my right thumb to apply the pressure. I would have loved to replace mine as well, but didn't think the money was well spent. I didn't open the releases that often either.

Some member sprayed the release from the back with silicon spray, but I was leery of doing that.

SOLD No Longer available.

I have four for free. Just pay shipping. Canada V1X 7G6.
Theses are the drive caddies used for the drives into an NV+ Readynas.
I got 4 when i had a repalcement NV+. I was advised by Netgear support
to remove drives with holders. The refurbished NV+ arrived with
4 drive holders therefore I now have 4 spare. Your lucky day. :)

Round button release or square recess release? Note: I am not in need of any as my NVX units came with the new style square recess release which I believe was introduced with the NVX model. The round button release trays are the ones prone to sticking.

What happened to your drive caddy dejhon? Is it damaged? Was it one with the round button release?
