ReadyNAS Duo and Ultra 2 Plus, Photos, Remote, iOS

Postby usnavy1610 » Thu May 31, 2012 2:31 pm

I have a Readynas Duo running Photos. I can't (and understand others can't either) use my iPhone with Readnas Remote to view Thumbnails of pictures on my Duo. You have to click on each individual file to see the .jpg pictures.

If I upgrade to a Readynas Ultra 2 Plus that can run Photos 2, will I be able to see Thumbnails with the same Iphone/Ipad and Readynas Remote?

It is hard to tell in the Photos 2 description.

tks Stu

Photos II and ReadyNAS Remote are separate.

Using Photos II you can see thumbnails of the pictures in your album. To access Photos II you are given a URL to go to and this URL will work from a remote location. For remote access to Photos II to work your router needs to support UPNP or you need to manually setup port forwarding.

ReadyNAS Remote allows you to connect to shares on your NAS. It does not connect you to Photos II.

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.
