ReadyNAS Duo - hanging on network

Postby jbellj » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:13 am

Hello - first post so hopefully getting my issue across.

I've a ReadyNas Duo running a single 500GB disk connected to my ISP provided SAGEM router.

When direct connected to my PC I am able to browse & connect without issue - but when trying to connect from over the network, using DLNA mostly, it falls off the network.
The device then needs rebooted before becoming usable again. I have a similar issue transferring to the data shares.

I've had the issue connecting from a Vista and Windows 7 laptop and my android phone.

There don't appear to be any hardware issues recorded in the system logs.

I've also updated the firmware and DLNA software to the latest versions.

Can anyone offer some troubleshooting advice?

If you do not have this problem when you are direct connected to a PC (assuming you tried not only data transfers but DLNA as well), the it is not a hardware issue. It sounds as if it is a network issue.

1. How long have you had the unit is service?

2. Is it a Duo or Duo V2? (If a V2, it should state so on the lower right hand corner of the access door).

3. How long have you had this problem?

4. Is the IP provided router a stand alone or a combined modem/router?
Remember - the NAS is not a backup plan.

Backup = Good, No Backup = Bad

Hello - thanks for the response -

1. How long have you had the unit is service?

I've had it about 18 months but not really used it for more than backups. I now want to make use of the streaming services.

2. Is it a Duo or Duo V2? (If a V2, it should state so on the lower right hand corner of the access door).
Its a Duo

3. How long have you had this problem?

Can't recall how long. May always have been there.

4. Is the IP provided router a stand alone or a combined modem/router?[/quote]

Ip is provided by DHCP from a modem\router.

Is there anything in the logs? Also, look in the network stats (button is on the network interface page).
