Amber LED on Ethernet Panel on!

Postby Willem Smith » Wed Jul 04, 2012 1:40 pm

The amber LED on the back of my ReadyNAS NV+ v1 is on when connected to my Netgear GS 108 Gigabit switch. (green blinking with activity)

When the NAS is operating in Gigabit mode this should be off according to the manual.
(
• Green on, amber off. 1000 Mbps connection speed, no activity
• Green blinking, amber off. 1000 Mbps connection speed, activity
• Green off, amber on. 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps connection speed, no activity
• Green off, amber blinking. 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps connection speed, no activity
)

Frontview reports: Online / 1000 Mbit / Full-duplex

Read- and Write speeds max out at 13 MB/s.

Is the manual right and if so, how can I fix this situation.

What ethernet cable are you using? Can you check to make sure it is a Cat5e or newer ethernet cable?

What version of RAIDiator are you running? The latest is 4.1.9: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_4_1_9_Notes

NB: A ReadyNas is not an excuse not to have a backup. Fire, theft, multiple disk failures, other hardware failure, floods, user negligence etc. can all result in loss of data.

I'm using cat 5e cable.

Running RAIDiator 4.1.9

Funny thing is: 'amber on, green blinking' isn't descibed in the manual! What does it mean?
