Ready NAS Dropping SOLVED :D
nbstat failed to purge the nbt remote cache table error 71 SOLVED :D
Master Browser SOLVED :D

I searched the Internet high and low and finally came up with the solution and the famous Master Browser issue solved as well. Its WIN's. Enable WIN's on the NAS and reboot your computer and all is well. This should solve XP and Windows 7 clients from dropping the NAS in the Network section of Windows Explorer. As an additional lock in you can go to network card settings on your computer and Properties/Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP)/Advanced/WINS/Add/Type in IP address of NAS/Optional Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP/Ok. Reboot your computer. It seems my router was not doing a good job of DHCP/DNS caching so I turned WIN's on the NAS now everything works.

I know people aren't usually a fan of WIN's, but on a small home network and office networks it is a great service. In a large network with Active Directory etc. WIN's is usually run still, because of so many legacy devices.

I would also think that this might solve some DLNA issues connection issues as well for Media Players, TV's and XBox devices.

This is one of of those solutions which I wish someone would gather up and put in one place, so others could easily solve the above issues.

Thanks, this worked for me except I didn't need to reboot (W7) just waited a couple of minutes and refreshed.

WINS - all one word.

I did this on my NAS. There are certain situations where it can be a bit slow for the NAS to appear in the list of network devices, but it usually does appear eventually. I put that down to my network configuration. On the rare occasions it doesn't, typing \\NameOfNas into the address bar and getting in, and then going back to the network browser usually clears any issue.

npt3 has a V2 product, with Dashboard not Frontview. As far as I can see from the manual, it does not have any settings for WINS.

Another feature "dropped" from the ARM line? or just not implemented "yet"?

My friends Duo V.1 absolutely refuses to appear on the Network devices page until WINS is configured on it, and on his PC. But he has an older switch and his network is a lot different to mine.
