Has anyone tried any of the RED series? I am looking to get the 3TB model for an NV+ v2. It is listed as compatible, but has anyone tried it themselves?

Are you sure you have the NV+ v2? The NV+ v2 is charcoal in colour whereas the v1 is silver. 3TB disks are not compatible with the v1. See How to tell whether I have a Duo v1 or Duo v2 or NV+ v1 or NV+ v2

Looking at your earlier posts and forum join date it sounds like you have the v1 not the v2.

Aha, well spotted. However, I have a shiny, brand new v2 sat unopened because I don't have a (working) HDD for it! The NV+ V2 is currently on sale in the UK for £160 which is a bargain! Just couldn't say no to a second NAS.

EDIT: Updated my profile to say v2.

Ah, good. Just wanted to make sure.

Edit: There are some threads already on the Red Series and WD has done some testing of them themselves I understand. They should work fine. They are a very new drive.

I have read three reviews and loving the sound of it, but I was hoping someone has tried one in an NV+ v2 so I can make sure they work well. After drives being added and then removed from the HCL I am nervous about being one of the first to try it.

I dont think you will find anyone as used these drives yet because they are so new.

It has arrived! Next day delivery even tho' I went for the super saver option because I'm tight. Interestingly Ebuyer have lots of 3TB in stock, but low on the 1TB and 2TB versions.

Newegg had the 3TB version on Friday but was out of stock on Saturday. I clicked the notify button and got an e-mail yesterday at noon, but I was away. By last evening they were out again. Clicked the notify button again, and we will see. I currently have two Hitachi HDS5C3030ALA630 in both of my NVX units along with two Seagate 1TB drives in each. I was going to add some more a while back when they got more reasonable in price, but by then they were gone. I also want to get a couple of the 3TB WD reds to try. I will probably pull the two Hitachi's in my main unit and replace them with two 3TB reds (when I can get them) eventually getting to the point that I have 4 of the red labels in one unit and 4 Hitachis in the other.

All set up! I must say the NV+ v2 is a lot slicker than the v1. It auto installed the latest firmware and within an hour of first switching it on, I have 2.7TB of free space using X-Raid2 (single disk, no redunancy). The disk seems to work well. I can copy files to it at ~45MB/s. Copied about 10GB over, no issues. The drive is the quietest I have ever heard and the whole unit is verging on silent. Current temp is 29C. Still lots to setup on it and give it a good test but anyone want to know anything? So far the WD Red is a fantastic drive.

has anyone tested on the NV+ v1, as I am very keen to get these drives. It's not on the HCL but I just wanted to know if anyone can confirm they work,
