Files 'disappeared' after changing sharename

Postby pmartina » Thu Aug 09, 2012 12:46 pm

Dear support
I have a readynas nv+ using with radiator 4.1.8.

Because i wanted to hide a ('cif' )share created through the ReadyNas Frontview application. I've experimented with this $ charachter and the _ sharename.

But unfortunately suddenly i could not see the files anymore in my folder mapped to this share.

I know the files are there because frontview mentioned that space is in use.

What can i do, ive tried using the option "advanced share authorisation " under "advanced options" but it did not help.

Regards,
Patrick

Can you reset the share name back to what it was before?

Also can you see the files when you use Frontview (not the admin interface)

StephenB.
Thx for your reply.

Ive reset the share name to what is was before but it did not help.

What do you mean see the files using Frontview, should i enable http/https access for the share?

New information!
After restarting the NAS an additional share appeared in the sharelist (Z$_), the name of this share was the same i used before when renaming the share. In Frontview its mentioned this share doesn't takes up any space but this share contains the missing files!

Also i can only read the files, cannot modify or add new files in this share.

I have a similar problem. I wanted to move my videos so I right clicked it and went to Cut. I then renamed the folder, but was not able to paste. I am confident that the files are still on the hard drive, as the data size used has not decreased but I cannot see the files.

I have tried restarting the hard drive, but no luck.

I have tried looking through all the folders on the c\ drive of the drive, but cannot find any of my videos.

Please help!

If you want to rename, delete, or create a new shared folder you need to use the web interface (Frontview or Dashboard). If you are working on folders within a share you can use the normal PC methods.

You might want to enter a support ticket.
