Ok, when can we expect this for ReadyNAS?

Still hoping at some point to see these released concurrently--isn't there time during Twonky's testing process to get the special requirements for Infrant tested? Maybe this was asked before, let me ask it another way, is the Twonky/Infrant delay getting shorter as newer versions are released? (that's why I noted the date in the thread title).

Especially when it is a version that fixes something that is broken (like 360 compatibility).

Just received Twonky’s release mail as well! When will it be out for the ReadyNAS? RN is one of the very few NASes for which it is not available yet, see list here. All in all, why such a delay?

Same here. I'm tired of the delays. I'd like to see TwonkyMedia updates for my ReadyNAS be as current as they are for all the other network storage devices. Failing that, I'd like to have a good explanation for the delays, at least.

I'm told this is Infrant's fault. Can we get some clarity on this issue from someone in personnel?

While I am not a Twonky user, or an Infrant staff member, I think the delays could be tied in with the pending release of RAIDiator version 4.

I notice that some of the Jedi Council have alluded to some significant changes that are coming in the new release. While I was reading this topic I wondered if the delay may be so that Infrant can use a more standard version of the Twonky code on their newer platform. That is, rather than modify the Twonky code to work on the current platform they are waiting to use a standard build on the newer platform. The delay may just be until RADiator 4 is out.

Anyway, it is just a thought that may explain the delays you are seeing. Hopefully a Jedi will be able to answer you all directly.

But the delay has been every time there is a new version. . .I don't expect to see it immediately but I'm hoping the wait isn't weeks as it has been in the past (going from memory here). . .

When we get the files from TwonkyVision, we package them up into an addon. IIRC, the 4.2.0 and 4.2.1 packages were released within about week of when the other platforms were released. The 4.2 betas weren't released because we found them to have obvious bugs. However, the 4.3.0 package is now available from here.

I wasn't paying as close attention when 4.2 came out, but I'm pretty sure there were significant delays on earlier versions, but that's obviously behind us now.

Yeah, they typically don't compile new releases for the ReadyNAS platform for a few days after they do it for other platforms. But hopefully we'll both be able to keep getting it out as soon as possible for future releases. But who knows, maybe 4.3 will be a perferct release, and you won't have to upgrade again.

I jumped on the new release bandwagon, and grabbed it as soon as it was available, but it's not definitely perfect from my perspective.

I'll admit upfront that I am pedantic pain in the backside when it comes to ordering my files. Everything is in a structured folder tree - including my videos, which are rooted at /c/media/Videos, with the letters of the alphabet under that, and folders for particular shows under each letter.

Basically, I just want it to display the folders from only ONE level at a time, otherwise it takes too long to scroll through them on my Zensonic Z400 - which is why I set it up this way in the first place. The default config worked out of the box for the previous versions, displaying my folder tree exactly as I wanted.

Trouble is, Twonky now seems to want to show me a mixed bag of truncated folder names (missing first letters), intermixed with file names, in no discernible order whatsoever. Or in other words, it seems like there is some perverse iTunes-like creature trying to display my files in the way it thinks I should want things presented. Bzzt, wrong.

It's one of the reasons I don't use iTunes - because I want to have control over how things are displayed - I don't want the software to force me to do things its way.

So, I've played around with all the various tree settings, and every config setting exposed by the interface, and I am still unable to get things back to the way things used to be by default. There's probably a way, but I think it will require me to directly access the Twonky config files themselves, and quite frankly I can't be bothered working out how to find them, or what to do with them.

Looks like a downgrade is the only way I am going to get things back to the way I want them, without spending hours tinkering with things. Thankfully the whole process is dead simple on the NV, so it will take less time to get things sorted than it took to write this whinge.

Okay, however, same disillusion here: what the hell does the new ‘Folder’ navigation stands for?? For me too, all my music is in a structured folder tree; now, everything’s mixed up, with truncated folder names, etc. Played around with tree settings as well: not any improvement at all. I just cannot believe Twonky will leave it like that. That’s simply completely insane!

Now: to downgrade or not to downgrade, that is the question…

I'm guessing it is a bug, because the folder settings are in the previous versions too, but there was no need to play with them if you used the simple navigation structure option.



Well I downgraded to 4.2.1 and my problems were immediately fixed - you can get 4.2.1 from http://www.twonkyvision.de/Download/4.2 ... _4.2.1.bin.

I'm considering logging a support case with Twonky. In fact truncated file names was a problem they specifically suggested logging a support case for, although I can't for the life of me find the page ATM.

Yeah, 4.3 is the worst yet (for video and images, anyway). Folder navigation is extremely buggy. It's just not usable. How did this glaring problem get past Twonky and Infrant??

This new release is doubly egregious in that we've had to endure an extended wait time for quality assurance. I guess Twonky and Infrant really do need at least seven days to test bugs.

Thanks for the link, Corey. I'll wait a bit for I'm sure it's an obvious bug that'll be corrected in a few days. But I'll downgrade for sure if nothing happens. Isn't it a pity, since I was really happy with Twonky until now? All things must pass, I believe... (too much listening to George Harrison these days...)

I found the media server unusable without downgrading it. If they fix it soon, (which they apparently have - http://www.infrant.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10850) I'll just upgrade again, but in the meantime at least I have a usable server again.

Yes, the fix works! In a very easy way, w/o NAS rebooting. In fact, we all forgive bugs, especially as soon as fixes come.
