NETGEAR ReadyNAS

For some reason (which I can't think of myself) I decided to produce a little video of how I setup a Barebones ReadyNAS 600 I configured a week ago.

Having never seen one of these units previously (just decided to buy based upon research on the web) I was a little unsure of what would be included in the Barebones system.

The video shows all the component parts provided and shows me installing the 4 x 250GB WD drives I purchased for it.

In particular it shows the "flashing LEDs" that come on when you first turn on the unit after installing the drives.

I Hope it is of some use.

I'm glad you liked it.... by all means... share away. It's not exactly up to my normal standards of video production... but then there was not exactly a big budget!

It's also on-topic as far as what I am using the ReadyNAS for. I'm using it as storage for network rendering video/multimedia projects I am working on.

awesome!!.. this will help most of the end user how easy it's to install the hard drives and setup the ReadyNAS.

For those who watched the video, the "most difficult" part where you connect the cables to the drives, we recommend that you connect the cables while hard disk are not fully inserted, before all the disks are screwed onto the cage. This will give you a little more room to connect the cables to the disks.

Also, if you have a hard time unscrewing the shiny screws on the front bezel, use a coin.

Aha... now that's a good idea.... in my case... as I had the unit with the front side facing down (so I could position the camera to view what I was doing).... that would not have helped.

It's from a music library called "stacktraxx" by Digital Juice. Can't remember which volume right now.
