Bittorrent autolinker

Postby scep » Tue Mar 25, 2008 6:31 am

This script allows you to automatically send torrent links to your Readynas, it will also show the status of the torrents that your readynas is tracking.

Updated 6-12-09
  • Right Click menu added
  • Ability to completely hide the status bar, via right click.
  • Torrents are sortable, via right click.

Updated 5-27-09
  • Now works with Safari and other non Firefox browsers that support user scripts. Just set the location of your readynas in the script file(var RNBTserver = "";).
  • UI improvments

Updated 6-13-08
  • Now supports Firefox 3.
  • Added a style for when the manager is trying to connect to the torrent server.

Updated
  • I have changed the way torrents are processed, the script will no longer direct you to the Readynas BT Manager, instead it uses ajax to just send the command.
  • I have also added a download monitor to the script. At the bottom of any webpage that you visit a little status bar will be added showing you the status of your downloads. When you mouseover the item it will expand to show the details and give you the ability to start/stop and remove the torrent.

Remember to remove your old copy of the script before getting the new one. You can do that via the GreaseMonkey Manager

Enjoy

Well, I installed the plug-in and I must say that this is pretty sweet. Nice job, scep.

With a few tweaks it could work in Opera as well. Opera supports greasemonkey scripts internally.

Main part that needs tweaking is the prompt for the server address, that won't do popup, would have to hard code the address in the .js file before hand.

Nice works great, the only issue I see is it gets kinda annoying when downloading from websites that redirect you to a new page before starting the download like bittotternt.com but not much can be done about that.

Hello scep

First - thanks for a great add on. Have been using since your first published it and it has worked very well.

But... I have a problem to report with this latest update.

It does work as advertised, but I have found that I get spurious copies of the monitor appearing as I browse the web. Take for example http://news.bbc.co.uk - here I get the monitor popping up in the top right corner above the "Other Top Stories" section in addition to the standard bottom right corner. On other pages I have seen the monitor appear multiple times on the one page.

Hope you can take a look at this

I am going to work on that, its an issue when there are iframes/frames in a page, GM sees them as a new page and re executes the script. I am going to work on adding some detection for that.

OK, it will now only show up in the main window. No more copies in iframes/frames.

Any other suggestions on how i can improve this, im open to ideas?

Great - that seems to have fixed it.

Have to admit this version provided the most important enhancement from my point of view (ie no longer redirecting to the BT page)

Hi there,

Great lookin' script, will it work with Firefox 3? A compatible greasemonkey was just released so I thought I'd finally try it out. I get the "+Nas" icons ok, however when I click it pops up an open/save dialog..

Thanks!

I am running FF 3 RC1 and there is no update of GM to that yet, when its available ill take a look and see whats going on. Its annoying that i keep having to go back to FF2 to use GM.

Yeah i was never happy with it going to the BT page just to add a torrent.
