BitTorren downloads not moved to Downloadfolder

Hello,

My first post here....

Some of the torrents that I download with BitTorrent Client in the ReadyNAS are not moved to the Download directory that I have configured. It seams to be when they have Swedish characters (å, ä and ö) in them that the problems occurs.

The Download are completed and if I select the Torrent in the BitTorrent interface of the ReadyNAS I can see all the files included in the Torrent, and I can even access the files within the torrent by clicking on them in the torrent interface. If the download was a collections of music files then I can play the music files from the BitTorrent interface of the ReadyNAS but I cant find the files anywhere.


- Where on the ReadyNAS are the files stored? I can not find them in any of my shares. [Edit] I mean where are files stored while they are beeing downloaded by the BitTorrent client in the ReadyNAS, and how can I access this area?
- How can I manually move the download that not are automaticly moved the the download directory?

Could someone please help me with this?

Bittorrent files are stored in a hidden directory (/c/.bittorrent) on the NAS while they are being downloaded. This folder is only visible if you SSH into the NAS (there is an add-on that will allow you ssh access to your NAS). From there you can change ownership (chown) and move (mv) the files from the /c/.bittorrent directory to your desired location.

If you're familiar with linux, this is relatively easy. If you're not, just ask.

If you're not linux-savvy and you're familiar with Windows, you can also use the following command to access the bittorrent folder:

The command completed successfully.

At this point, if you enable hidden folders in Windows Explorer, you should be able to copy the files from the .bittorrent directory or use the command prompt as illustrated below:

uhm...

i have NO idea what all that means

is there an even easier way to explain a windows user what to do to find downloaded torrents?

i specified the download folder as the share "downloads/Bittorrent", but the folder is empty. assuming that the files are stored in a hidden folder during download (read that in some other thread), shouldnt they at least be moved to the specified folder once they are finished?

i enabled showing hidden files in windows, but i still cant find the torrents...

David's steps are about the easiest you can get. You have to mount the /c share of the NAS as the admin user before you can see the temp /c/.bittorrent/ directory.

Is the torrent still listed in the BT manager? If so, what is the status? Are there other files being downloaded?

If you're up for a little detective work, once you can try to see if they are in the hidden folder. As mentioned above, the downloaded files are moved from the hidden folder on the NAS (/c/.bittorrent) to your desired location (downloads/Bittorrent) after they have completed downloading.

If the download has not completed, then it's likely still in the hidden folder (assuming you didn't click REMOVE on the torrent manager).

To check to see if it's in the hidden directory, perform the following steps:

1. Open a command prompt in Windows (Start > Run > type cmd)

2. At the command prompt type:

net use r: \\ip.address.of.nas\c /USER:admin

3. Make sure that you have enabled hidden files/folders in Windows explorer.

4. Browse to drive R: under "My Computer" and look for a folder called .bittorrent and see if the files are there. If so, it may mean a couple of things:

- the file is not yet fully downloaded (the BT manager may report 100% due to rounding up, but it may be at 99.999%)
- the bt process may have hung and just not completed.

Post your findings and let us know.

AHA!

Thanks guys, finally found that hidden folder! Those how-to pictures were very helpful.

STATUS: BT is running fine, all torrents, finished or unfinished, are in the hidden folder. HOWEVER, finished torrents are not being moved to my specified folder...

i'll reboot the readyNAS as soon as i finished uploading some media files and post results.

I get prompted to select a certificate, whichever method is used but I don't have any certificates listed. Any ideas how to proceed?

reboot didnt help, but an upgrade to v1.3 of the BT client did the magic!
