Twonky Media

Postby junk67 » Tue Jul 25, 2006 5:48 pm

I have installed B5 and Twonky seems to have stopped working.
(I could not access the default web page ip:8100)

I unchecked the service, applied, rechecked the service, applied, and recieved the following message.

"Error starting Twonky Media Service"

I was then able to get to the default web page.

Double checked by:
I unchecked the service, applied, rechecked the service, applied, and recieved the following message.

Same message:
"Error starting Twonky Media Service"

The message appears in the status log.

Any ideas? Any one else seen the problem?

Thanks

Sorry... Mine is working fine under Beta 5. Just confirming that this isn't a universal problem.

Have you tried to stop the service and restart it?

I had the same problem, but it occured already in V2.0p9. It happened first after changing some defaults in the twonky config page and remains through B1 to B5. The only way to restart twonky seems to be rebooting the whole NAS. Starting/stopping/removing/reinstalling doesn't help, because the config.ini file seems to remain on the NAS and cannot be re-initialized back to its defaults. :(

Now, the service stops and aborts always when it is restarted during a running media scan. I also would apreciate to get a solution for this.

Greetings - Jürgen

I actually ran into a memory bug with B3 & twonky....and the only way to get my NAS back was to reflash and start over. (Using Rev. A Hardware) I upgraded to 512MB of memory, but until I hear twonky's playing nice with P3, I won't take the (arduous) plunge again.

(Just confirming probs with B3/Twonky for the masses) :)

There's an addon to reset the ini file and clear out the database. Maybe that will work. I've been using Twonky on RAIDiator 3 on a couple systems for a while, and it's been working okay for me, so I don't really have any personal experience with the problem.

As always, Streaming Services addons are at http://www.infrant.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3471.

clean it out

Postby junk67 » Fri Jul 28, 2006 8:53 pm

I did the following.

Stop service.
remove service.
reboot
load cCleanTwonky_0.1
reboot
load twonky
reboot
start service

still get "Error starting Twonky Media Service"

Twonky works fine.
The only item I can think of is that my music share is (default) media
and my music folder is set to Music/MP3 320K

I have not tried changing this directory callout, since twonky works even though it gives the error.

Thanks

Did some investigating, and the "Error starting Twonky Media Service" message comes from the fact that FrontView tries to start it twice. This will be fixed in the next beta. Thanks for the report!
